Fish Update - September 2020

Fish Update - September 2020

Throughout the Covid crisis our key frozen at sea fillet producers have continued to fish and build up stocks so that we have been able to offer a comprehensive range of finest quality cod and haddock fillets to our customers without any real interruptions.

Summer demand has been in excess of expectations since lockdown ended though overall stock levels of skinless pinbone in and skinless boneless cod and haddock remain good.

Summer demand has been in excess of expectations since lockdown ended though overall stock levels of skinless pinbone in and skinless boneless cod and haddock remain good.

In general, and putting aside altered demand because of lockdown, cod catching has been average for the year with haddock catching below average. Fillet sizes produced have tended to be smaller than in previous years especially on haddock. Large cod has not been so plentiful.

There is sufficient remaining quota for production to continue late into the year so all in all we expect the availability of fillets to remain good for the remainder of the year.

Thanks to our many customers who rely on Whitley’s week in week out for vital supplies of top quality frozen at sea cod and haddock fillets for your businesses. With our supply partners Rammi, Norebo and Icefresh we are dedicated to offering you the Best of the Best!
