CCM wanted to show that private own labels are just as good, and in many cases far better, than the big global brands.

    I have often wondered why so few of our customers enter The National Fish & Chip Awards; Drywite’s excellent Young Fish Friers’ Competition; or the NFFF’s Quality Awards? Not to win or not to qualify is not a disgrace! It is normally just the opposite for not only gaining kudos from actually entering you will be surprised at how much help and guidance is forthcoming. I well remember the first rally I entered in our elderly Triumph 2000. There were no novice events in those days and I had to jump in at the deep end into a Motoring News Championship round. We failed to finish the Event as my Navigator fell ill just as dawn broke over the Brecon Beacons but boy - did we learn a lot!

The popularity of the frozen at sea format of cod and haddock is increasing with other big markets (such as UK retail) recognising the quality of these products and taking increasing volumes of the available material. This has combined with reduced Barents Sea quotas for cod and haddock and some challenging fishing conditions and poor catching.
