V.A.Whitley have sponsored the National Fish and Chip Awards for a number of years and we would like to wish each and every shop the very best of luck at the finals in January.

Organised by Seafish, the public body which supports the £10bn UK seafood industry, the National Fish & Chip Awards have been inspiring excellence within the UK’s fish and chip sector for over thirty years.

Thursday 23rd January 2020 marks the 32nd National Fish and Chip Awards which will be attended by over 600 guests at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

Nominees are appraised in each of the key areas that highlight best practice against a range of criteria – with mystery judges attending the shops to assess a number of factors including sustainable sourcing practices, customer service, staff training and the overall quality of the fish and chips. Each year The National Fish & Chip Awards celebrate the nation’s favourite dish and recognise and reward those who are providing us with the best fish and chips across the UK, both in terms of product and customer service.

The Awards celebrate excellence and showcase the very best fish and chip businesses across the country. The Awards recognise talent and celebrate excellence, quality and choice offered by businesses across the fish and chip industry in a variety of award categories.

The Drywite Young Fish Frier of the Year is down to the top 5 with the top spot being contended for by 2 budding Fish Friers from the same shop! Both Stephen Holden and Jordan Profitt fry at the Packet Bridge Fish & Chips, Bolton-Le-Sands, Lancashire.

It’s easy to get involved in the competition, as well as being completely free to enter. Look out for updates for next years National Fish and Chip Awards - there are great benefits for participating shops, including a potential increase in turnover and national publicity.
